Support Group

Peer support in a professionally supervised group setting for children with cancer and their families.

NNCCF is proud to offer families a monthly support group. In a safe, professionally supervised environment, children express feelings and concerns through structured creative activities, while adults have a chance to communicate openly, without children present, and meet other parents facing similar issues.

The adult group is facilitated by Dionne Bloomfield, MFT. Participants can communicate openly, without children present, while relating to other parents who are facing similar issues. The teen group is facilitated by Angie McEvers, Child Life Educator with Renown Regional Medical Center and the young children group is facilitated by Dannielle Adler, Social Worker in the Pediatric Department at Renown Regional Medical Center.  During each session, pediatric cancer patients and their siblings are given the opportunity to share experiences and to support and learn from each other.

Meetings are held at the Ranch House at Ranch San Rafael Regional Park located at 1595 North Sierra St. in Reno on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 6:30pm–8:00pm. Enter at the Sierra St. entrance. Please RSVP to Lizzie@NvChildrensCancer.org or 775-825-0888.
