Research

Every year in the month of March, brave volunteers throughout northern Nevada accept the lofty challenge issued by NNCCF and the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and shave their heads in exchange for donations to help raise money for childhood cancer research. Spectators attend the event and watch as shavees go bald to raise funds and awareness for our children at this annual celebration. The funds are raised locally as part of a worldwide effort to Conquer Kids’ Cancer.

Reno St. Baldrick's 2009 227

The fifth annual northern Nevada event held on March 17th at the Coconut Bowl raised $120,000 and shaved 250 heads!  In northern Nevada, these funds help support pediatric cancer Fellows at Children’s Hospital Oakland and their satellite clinic at Renown Medical Center here at home.

Since 2006, northern Nevada St. Baldrick’s events have shaved 892 heads and raised $600,000 for childhood cancer research!
