Join us and get dirty digging-in your shovels to support local children battling cancer. We invite big and little kids alike to operate more than 35 pieces of heavy construction equipment, experience up-close displays of the RAVEN helicopter, a bomb unit, police cars, fire trucks, and more. We are pulling out all the stops to support Northern Nevada children and are excited about this partnership.
All proceeds benefit the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation.
Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation has been helping local families in our community since 2000 and is the only non-profit in the region solely dedicated to childhood cancer. NNCCF has provided more than $8 million in direct financial assistance to local families, all through local funding. NNCCF can only continue to assist local childhood cancer families through the generosity of community partners, like you, and fundraisers like Dozers &Dirt.

Each year we ask the community to “Shave for the Brave” and go bald in support of childhood cancer research. In partnership with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, NNCCF’s annual Shave for the Brave events have raised more than $3.3 million since 2006. We have shaved more than 4,000 local heads! Part of NNCCF’s mission is to advocate for increased research funds with hopes one day our kids will be cancer-free.
Here’s how our Shave for the Brave event works:
“Shavees” raise money by collecting pledges from family members and friends in support of childhood cancer research. Shavees can fundraise individually or join a team. “Barbers” are certified cosmetologists who volunteer for the event, and shave participants’ heads until all the hair is gone! Men, women and children participate in this inspiring event.
Whether you decide to shave your head, volunteer to raise money another way, or make a donation, please join us to give kids with cancer the long, healthy lives they deserve. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation and the NNCCF team can’t wait to see what our community can do.
“They say two heads are better than one, so a whole team of bald heads is way better than one bald head.” – St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

The Know the Gold Campaign is a six-month-long community-driven effort to raise funds for local kids. All donations to the Know the Gold Campaign are matched dollar-for-dollar by the William N. Pennington Foundation, up to $600,000, through February 9th, 2024. On average, NNCCF assists 135 families each year, and the funds raised during the campaign help support our programs and services throughout the year. The campaign launched on September 1st, 2023, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The gold ribbon is the national symbol of childhood cancer. Which is why we ask that you #KnowtheGold and help us build awareness.
We invite you to join us for the finale of our Know the Gold Campaign! The finale is a 12-hour radiothon fundraiser live on Cumulus radio stations KBUL 98.1, KOH 780 News Talk, Wild 102.9 and 95.5 The Vibe. The phone bank and fundraiser is hosted at Scheels. You can participate in the radiothon by listening on the radio, listening live on Alexa, joining us on social media, or stopping by Scheels. The direct call line to the phone bank will be announced the morning of the Radiothon – but you can always call to donate today at 775-825-0888.
We aim to reach our six-month-long campaign goal of $600,000 by 6pm on February 9th, 2024.

The Annual Tournament of Hope is hosted on the beautiful PGA course at Montreux Golf and Country Club. This course will provide a beautiful backdrop for a great day of golf and philanthropy as we raise money to assist local children and their families in their battle against childhood cancer. Since the inaugural event in 2005, generous donors have raised more than $1.9 million at our Tournament of Hope. We look forward to new milestones and welcome you to join us at this special event.
