Become a Community Partner today and #KnowTheGold this September!

September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and we are asking the community to advocate for childhood cancer. This September, you can help us build awareness in our community by joining the 200+ businesses in Reno, Sparks, and Carson City that participate in our Know the Gold Campaign. Many of these businesses host a fundraiser and display a gold ribbon wreath in September. The Know the Gold Campaign is named after the gold ribbon which is the national symbol of childhood cancer. Last year, funds raised through the campaign were matched dollar-for-dollar by the William N. Pennington Foundation.

Help us achieve our goal by participating in one or more of these steps:

Hang an awareness wreath
Display on the front door, lobby or reception area of your business for the month of September.
NNCCF will supply your awareness wreath at no cost.

We are a community-funded nonprofit thanks to our community partners.

Evan and Nora hosted a lemonade stand to raise money for children with cancer. Their desire to take care of local kids represents the unwavering support from our community partners who dedicate their time, energy, and talent to help our foundation. Each lemonade stand, office swear jar, golf tournament and toy drive helps relieve the financial and emotional burden a family faces with a childhood cancer diagnosis.

In 2018, donations from individuals and community partners accounted for nearly a third of the income that supports our programs. Their generosity helps our foundation expand services to ensure that families in Northern Nevada facing a childhood cancer diagnosis can focus on their child, and worry less about the rising costs of cancer treatments.

Here are additional ways to support:

  • Check if your business can participate in an employee matching program. Every dollar counts any many businesses have a healthy philanthropy budget!
  • Host a toy drive or donate an item for our toy cabinet from our Amazon Wish List.
  • Volunteer for one of our events or donate your services in-kind (ex: photography, event promotion, video editing, etc)
