What is the Hope for the Holidays Program?

NNCCF’s annual holiday program that allows caring individuals, families, businesses and community groups to personally make a difference for local families who have a child with cancer.  These “sponsors” are matched with families and given a wish list to guide them through the shopping fun.

How much does it cost to be part of the program?

In order to accommodate all sponsors, we try to provide an opportunity to participate at numerous levels.

  • Adopt an entire family – The average amount spent on gifts per family depends on the number of family members. In past years, the average amount spent for a family starts at approximately $400.  We will match you with a family size that will fit your budget.
  • Make a financial contribution that will be used to purchase gifts off of a wish list. When making your donation, please note it is to be used in support of the Hope for the Holidays program.
  • Donate a new, unwrapped gift or gift card of any value.

When do I need to have the gifts delivered by?

The earlier the better!  We would love to have all gifts delivered to NNCCF by December 2nd, 2022.

The final deadline is Friday December 2nd. This helps us to facilitate distribution in a timely manner.

Please make an appointment so that we can ensure that staff will be available at the time of drop-off.

Where will I deliver my gifts?

Please deliver to the NNCCF office, located at 3550 Barron Way, #9A, Reno.

Do I wrap the gifts?

Please wrap unless specified differently on the wish list.

Make sure each gift is labeled properly for the recipient and includes a removable tag or post-it that tells what the gift is.

Can I meet the family?

Many donors ask to meet the family, however, due to confidentiality and privacy laws, this is not possible. We make every effort possible to obtain family feedback to pass on to the donor.

Do I need to turn in my receipts?

Yes, please complete the Sponsor Report Form (NNCCF staff will provide) along with ALL original (or copied) receipts at the time you drop off your gifts and a charitable gift receipt will be issued for the value of the goods contributed.

Can I purchase items in addition to what is already on the list?

Yes, absolutely!  Families love pantry items, grocery store gift cards, gas cards, holiday pajamas, etc. These items are an easy way to involve large groups.

Are there items that we can purchase for NNCCF to use throughout the year?

So glad you asked!  NNCCF families desperately need gift cards throughout the year. These gifts provide families immediate financial and emotional support when they need it the most. Again, this is a great way to involve large groups who want to give during the holiday season.  Gift cards needed most are gas cards, grocery cards, restaurant cards and Amazon cards.
