Welcome, from our new Executive Director, Mary Powell

Dear NNCCF Family,

The past year included a great deal of change for our country, our community, and our
organization. Throughout these changes we at NNCCF have embraced the opportunity to
reflect and improve our impact on those experiencing childhood cancer in northern Nevada.
It is through transition we have seen passion, determination, and opportunities arise that
we may not have seen otherwise. Together in 2017 we have:

  •  Provided $381,269 in support to northern Nevada families experiencing childhood cancer
  • Clocked nearly 3,000 volunteer hours in service to NNCCF
  • Distributed $47,084 in gifts during our holiday Adopt-A-Family program
  • Raised $265,128 for childhood cancer research
  • Awarded $67,678 in college scholarships to childhood cancer survivors

We know that 2018 will bring a new set of challenges. We know more children in northern
Nevada will be diagnosed with cancer, some will relapse, and some will not survive. We
are certain out-of-pocket medical expenses will continue. It is inevitable we will see a
parent choose their child’s care over employment or a basic necessity. There will be other
challenges in the year to come that we have no way to foresee.

We also know that 2018 will continue to bring passionate supporters to our NNCCF family
that will stand in the gap to conquer these challenges. You will shave your head, sponsor
a golf hole, play poker, host a bake sale, recruit your friends and co-workers, volunteer your
time, and uplift the NNCCF staff to be the frontline of support for our community.

Thank you for the ways you have allowed us to grow and serve our community better in
2017. You are in every teddy bear, gas gift card, paid utility bill, hug, and “No More Chemo”
bell ringing. Thank you in advance for continuing to stand in the gap as we grow and
improve with every challenge that 2018 brings us.

With great appreciation,
